Hi David, Love this series, I'm looking forward to the solution you propose because I see so many of these great university ideas that don't fit the funding model but could be great creators of local jobs, local businesses that could drive economic growth for a region but they die because they get stuck without the capabilities or funding to grow to VC requirements. I even tried to champion one company through ... lots of great lessons.
Thanks, Theresa; much appreciate you reading and commenting! The regional dimension is a real one that I've not developed enough in this post. The jobs + economic activity that never materialize when inventions don't get built is its own cost, alongside the patient care argument. Would love to hear more about what you ran into w/ that company. It sounds like exactly the kind of experience that should inform what I’m trying to sketch out in next posts.
